Parade 5

The Andalusians in the first picture are part of the equestrian tem from a Dinner in Buena Park. Every time the nearest one took a step he made a soft coughing sound. I don‘t know if any others did. I have wondered ever since if he was sick. The DR. Pepper float used Spanish Moss for the mammoth hair. The float reminded me of the Hogg plantation when it went by. The place, 40 years ago, was lavish with huge spanish moss beards. The moss has tiny very fragrant flowers.
The band for New Orleans was very good but they also acted as if they knew they were “Very Important“. They had performed in front of 6 USA presidents and felt the weight of the responsibility. They could really strut but held the flow down. The Special FRiends float used cotton, onion seed, and seaweed for the coats of the cats and dogs. Seaweed!? Must have been brown seaweed.
I was confused by the next group. They were a pro rodeo drill team. Sounds very macho. All the riders were females. This is an all female equestrian team. Go figure. The next float was the longest in the parade. Boeing was the sponsor of the float. The program says 130 feet but it really seemed about 500 feet. The float had figures and objects from the last 50 years. One was a Rubik’s cube. I still cannot work the damned things.
Can you believe the size of the roses on the Grand Marshall‘s car? I thought the woman with Regis Philbin was Kathy Lee from their show but Caro mumbled “idiot“ so I guessed maybe it was Kelly from his current show. Lord have mercy I am such a doof. That woman is his wife Waye! Her name is Joy. They have been married almost as long as we have. Anyways the ROSES were awesome.
