The last group on the previous page from Tulsa High School is certainly not out of the mode I came from. Okies of my age always tried to be invisible. These band uniforms are certainly not going to make the band “invisible“. Good to see the “OKIES“ sticking out. The parade, at least to someone who only casually watches on TV while waiting for Football, seems to have recognition to normally hidden professions. The float for the ASCE (American Society for Civil Engineers) displayed models of some of the most recignizable structures of the human race. All designed by civil engineers of their time. Bet you didn’t know there was a society for civil engineers. Bet you didn’t know there were any civil engineers. THANKS DILBERT, NOT!”

There was a group dressed like Western heros and Heroines of the past. Like Lone Ranger, Hopalong Cassidy, Dale Evans and Roy Rogers. The grandkids had no clue about the Lone Ranger so I told Brooke just a little bit about his origin and how he got his name. Months later she asked me to tell her some more so I told here he was the Hornets uncle so now she wants to know who the Hornet is. You do remember the Hornet, Right?

I think the way that the studio and radio treated Clayton Moore was terrible. I never knew any other “Lone Ranger“. The Home Depot float had Al Borland from “Home Improvement” on it. He sure has parlayed a bit part in a TV series into a financially secure future.

The 1957 Chevy is, IMHO, the finest car ever produced on this planet. My Chevy was named “Moonglow“ and was ice white. I owned one and courted my wife in one. Our first kid was conceived in that car. The band with the 57 Chevy was playing “Old Time Rock and Roll and had the older people dancing in their seats.

I couldn‘t understand what the “Kips“ big boy figure had to do with rock and roll. Caro said that was a symbol of where we and the other kids hung out after the movies. I told her I didn‘t remember every going to a drive-in after a movie or on a date. “WRONG, emphatically WRONG“ according to Caro.
