Parade 13

Riding on the float was the blind guy who was on the top floor of the one of the World Trade Center towers on Sept 11. The dog with him is the one that led him safely to the ground and away from danger.
The Saint Bernard looked so real I thought it was animated. And again sweet rice was used. The Veterans of Foreign Wars float got the crowd on their feet. Uncle Sam on a Harley and the Statue of Liberty are strong images for us Americans. The last official part of the parade were the US Marshals. A man next to me joked that they were there to pickup illegal aliens working the parade route.
After we got back to our cars we had about a 90 minute wait until the parking cleared out. The was a guy with a charcoal grill selling grilled hot dogs. The wieners were wrapped with bacon. He was also grilling jalapenos and onions on an aluminum sheet. The hotdogs were $3 each. I wouldn’t buy any because they were too expensive. Wayne bought all 7 of us one. They were absolutely perfect. We finished ours waiting for the traffic to clear and I took off to get more. He was sold out. Two years later I can close my eyes and remember the taste. Caro and I have searched for another hotdog vendor to rival.
