Shaun’s parents held a luau for Misty and Shaun. The luau was in there back yard on a lovely warm evening. I don’t know what Tim, Shaun’s dad, did but there were no bugs during the whole evening. The meal was Hawaiian style with some sort of pineapple pork meat dish. I think. I didn’t write it down and my memory is increasingly capricious. There were a lot of people there.

After we ate somebody turned on the music and, being a Hawaiian thing a “hula”, pun intended, hoop appeared. The thing can be used as a test of adulthood . Every school kid could keep it spinning until they got bored. But those past high school could barely keep it up for about two twirls. Those of a, ahem, more mature temporal location merely slowed the hoops crash to the floor.

Diane and Tim are lovely people who have raised a great son. We are somewhat older than them since we were approaching forty when Misty was born. They have lived in their house a long time also. They really threw a swell luau.

Of course the stars of the luau were Shaun and Misty. They went to the same high school all 4 years so they know the same people and probably have the same intellectual information set. They kept the festivities light and happy. After all the hula hooping and some dancing they opened gifts. As usual the gifts were mostly for the woman and the man is supposed to look excited and interesting. Shaun did very well. Heck he may even have been interested.
