Angel?Food Cake

I was to bake a cake for the church ladies' group bake sale, but, I forgot to do it until the last minute.

I baked an angel food cake from a box mix, and when I took it out of the oven, the center had dropped flat. I thought "Oh dear, (right! You know I said that!) there is no time to bake another cake." So, I quickly looked around for something to build up the center of the cake. I found it in the bathroom... a roll of toilet paper!... I plunked it in and covered it with icing. The finished product looked beautiful, so I rushed it to the church.

I then gave my husband instructions to be at the sale the minute it opened and to buy that cake and bring it home. When he arrived at the sale, the cake had already been sold. I was just sick!!

A couple of days later I was invited to a friend's home where two tables of bridge were to be played that afternoon. After the game a fancy lunch was served, and to top it off, MY CAKE was presented for dessert.

I saw the cake and started to get off my chair to rush into the kitchen to tell my hostess all about it, but before I could get to my feet, one of the other ladies said, "What a beautiful cake!"

I sat back in my chair when I heard my hostess say, ""Thank you, I baked it myself."
