Flat Kellie tracels to Houston to visit Pops and Granny

Hello Kellie: I was so glad to get a visit from Flat Kellie Kay that I sat her on my computer keyboard so she could watch me plan a reunion of internet friends next year. She reminded me to be sure and schedule the event before school starts in 2004 so she can go. I’ll let Flat Kellie tell the rest of the story since she is supposed to be reporting on her adventures.

Gramps listens to Jazz while working on the computer so I pointed to the volume control keys to remind him that I was very close to the speaker. He turned it down but I could hear him grumble. Next he took me out to check his tomatoes and jalapeno peppers. He is growing them in containers to protect them from birds and squirrels. It looks like he needs to feed the tomatoes. I told him they were as pale as I.

Pops told me that I could go to work with him tomorrow. He works in a chemical plant but first we need to check with Granny about her plans. Pops did get to take me to his job. Granny gave him permission. Thank you granny. I saw a whole lot of tall things in a row. They are distillation towers and gramps said I could climb one to see the whole Houston Ship Channel. But because they sway in the wind you have to wear a safety harness. Pops is so fat that there is no harness to fit him so I climbed the tower by myself. Normally anyone climbing the towers has to wear a full face respirator but since I don't breathe I didn't have to wear one. Here I am climbing the stairs to get to the lower level of the tower.

After I got to the top of the stairs I put on the safety harness. Pops yelled instructions from the ground. I really had a struggle. The harness weighed a lot more than me. I finally had to hang it on a nail and back into it.

I climbed and climbed and finally got to the top of the tower. Gramps said it is named C-27. Can you see me?

I am right under the thing sticking out at the top of the right hand tower. See the light spot way at the top. Whee!!! I could almost see Austin, I think. The tower was swaying so much I felt sick to my stomach. It took me such a long time to climb up there and I was so tired I didn't want to climb down so I just jumped off. I hurt my hair when I landed and the harness bounced all over me. Real people should never jump like that. But since I am paper I didn't get hurt bad. OUCH!!!!!!

Next "Pops" took me into the laboratory where he does analysis. He mostly does chromatographic analysis using fused silica capillary columns. He cut off a small section of one for us to see. Be careful, the ends can stick like a very sharp needle. I watched him analyze gasoline. I asked him so many questions he had to get two cups of coffee.

I am glad he knows what he was doing. Some day I will too. I know I want a career in science. Well after a full day we went home for more adventures. This time with Granny. When I got home from work with Pops I helped my cousin Jared do his homework.

He thought I was the coolest thing he'd seen. He wished he could be flat Jared. He is in the first grade also. I'd had a very long day so I went to bed early. On Thursday morning Granny took me to work with her. We stopped for breakfast at Sonic. I really liked the lady that waited on us. I had juice and a pancake on a stick. Yummy! I ate so much I was almost not flat.

When I got to the office, I got to visit with my Aunt Misty.

She was really glad to see me, everyone else was also. The name of the company is Kellibrook Mortgage.

My Mom named the Company for my sister and me. My sister's name is Brooke. Kellibrook helps people buy houses.

Here I am helping my very good friend Alisa review a loan file. She said I was lots of help now she can probably get the file approved. This day wasn't nearly as exciting as the first day with Pops, but I had fun cause seeing good friends again is fun. I need to leave Houston now and come home to Austin to share my adventures with all of you. So I’ll climb back into my envelope.

Love Flat Kellie Kay
